About This Spot

Stepping into Hương Sen Tofu feels like uncovering a quiet, heartfelt corner of Sacramento where simplicity meets the subtle art of Vietnamese vegan cooking. This unassuming spot, tucked away along Stockton Boulevard, wraps you in a calm, almost meditative atmosphere—a place where the pace slows enough to appreciate each thoughtful detail, from the modest decor to the soft murmur of friendly conversation.

The modest seating invites you to settle in comfortably, whether you're there to take your time with a flavorful meal or to carry out a carefully prepared selection of freshly made dishes. What truly defines the experience here is the unspoken invitation to explore—a buffet of tofu and veggie creations laid out without fanfare, encouraging curious storytelling with every bite. The quiet bustle behind the counter reveals a kitchen dedicated to crafting familiar Vietnamese flavors with plant-based ingredients, honoring tradition while inviting discovery.

Meals here feel like shared moments rather than hurried transactions, where the play of textures and tastes—crispy, soft, subtly smoky, and richly seasoned—unfold with each forkful. From delicately fried tofu varieties to vinegary side dishes and thoughtful, warming soups, the menu is less a list and more a journey through familiar comforts reimagined for a vegan lifestyle.

Despite its small size and humble appearance, Hương Sen Tofu carries an authenticity that resonates with those seeking genuine, respectful Vietnamese cuisine made without animal products. There’s an understated generosity in portion and spirit, where the staff’s warm attentiveness quietly completes the experience. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, listen, and savor—not only the food but the little, human moments that make this vegan eatery a quietly treasured find in the neighborhood.

Another vegetarian eatery in Sacramento; exceptional service.

One of the best Asian vegetarian/vegan authentic cuisines in Sacramento region!! Seriously, this place is no joke. It's a small discreet hole in the wall restaurant with limited seating but an infinite amount of possibilities and wonder! It's kind of confusing at first. So basically you walk in and there's a whole bunch of food items laid out with no labeling, no idea what anything is. Then there's a menu on top with English. The items do not correspond to menu (I think?). But they do have a menu on the wall behind the cash register that has soups and discrete meals (like pho, bun bo hue, and rice plates. I forgot to get a photo of it.) Basically you can either get some ready made food with write rice and 2-3 entrees or order some hot food that will be ready in <10 minutes. Everything is vegetarian or vegan. They make their own tofu and they have a wide variety of tofu. Pho: I LOVE pho so i have a pretty high standard. Let me tell ya, there is a surprising depth to the broth with a decent amount of tofu/protein in it. They give you a handful of bean sprouts, lime, and Thai basil. Bun bo hue, vermicelli, and the entree was also good and very flavorful. The prices are excellent for the portion size. You don't think you're getting a lot, but the tofu is jam packed with protein so you get full easily. Just beware, this place is CASH ONLY. And limited seating. They also sell their tofu and some vegetarian sauces and other food itens. Also, the workers may have limited English knowledge so your service may be different based on who you're talking to. I definitely want to come back and try more vegan options as I had a blast trying all the different entree options!!!!!!

All vegan, all Buddhist, all Vietnamese, excellent small diner with a wide selection of dishes prepared in-house to enjoy carry-out or sit down in a booth to eat at your leisure. Served hot, delicious, friendly, courteous, and appreciative of kind patronage. I’ll return.

What an interesting experience! It's a Vietnamese Take Away shop with a small Viet grocery store. I was unsure what was vegan and what was vegetarian but any "meat" is faux. The first woman helping me was very sweet but couldn't speak English so well, but another English speaking employee came to help. They were very generous with their portions and the food was great. It is quick, cheap, and tasty! It may take a few times of ordering to get it down, I was a bit out of my element at first but still very happy with my experience. We ordered all kinds of amazing tofu, veggie bbq pork, and their veggie beef noodle soup. The soup was my favorite thing!! I recommend taking it all home and getting a bit creative. Everything needed to be heated up and we decided to fry up the vegan pork to make it a bit crispier. Make sure to come early so you have access to their best offerings! Over all it was really good food and sweet staff and I recommend this place! I do wish they would switch from styrofoam to a more sustainable take away packaging though!

Delicious, cheap, expansive vegetarian options. I tried it on a whim, and I'm glad I did. As good as Anna's Vegan Cafe. But bring cash!

I love this down-home restaurant. All the food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. Great prices, too! I believe everything there is vegan

They're nice and the food is really good. It isn't a dining experience, but I eat bc I am hungry. I do not need to be entertained.
